After a lengthy legal struggle, the Uttar Pradesh Public Service Commission (UPPSC) has released a revised result for the UP Judicial Service Civil Judge (Junior Division) Main Examination-2022, also known as PCS (J) Mains-2022. The updated results include five additional candidates who have now been successful in advancing to the interview stage, despite previously being marked as failed.

The UPPSC has announced that separate interviews will be held for these five candidates, with roll numbers 047370, 047380, 047665, and 047718. UPPSC Controller of Examination Harsh Dev Pandey mentioned that a new notification will be issued regarding the date and time for these interviews.

The revised results come after a petition was filed by candidate Shravan Pandey, who alleged discrepancies in his answer sheets. Pandey claimed that his English answer sheet had been altered and pages from another sheet were torn, which affected his examination outcome. The Allahabad High Court subsequently directed the UPPSC to present the answer sheets for six question papers in court. During the investigation, it was discovered that the answer sheets of 50 candidates had been swapped. Shravan Pandey has now been declared successful in the main examination and will participate in the interviews along with the other revised candidates.

The UPPSC has stated that the revised results are provisional and subject to the final decision of the Allahabad High Court regarding Pandey’s petition and other similar petitions. The next hearing in Pandey’s case is scheduled for August 28.

The UP Judicial Service Civil Judge (Junior Division) Main Examination-2022 was conducted from May 22 to 25, 2023. Results were announced on August 30, 2023, with marks made public in November 2023. The review process of the answer sheets began after Shravan Pandey accessed his papers through an RTI request. Following his petition, the Allahabad High Court ordered the UPPSC to present the answer sheets on June 5, 2024.

The UPPSC appeared in court on June 7, 2024, and submitted an affidavit indicating that all 18,042 answer sheets had been examined to address the issue of dummy roll numbers used during evaluation. The commission began showing answer sheets to candidates on June 20, continuing until July 30. UPPSC admitted to mistakes in the allotment of roll numbers and stated on August 13 that the revised results would be released soon.
