A woman from Uttar Pradesh allegedly poisoned her husband just hours after completing a Karwa Chauth fast, which is traditionally observed for a spouse’s long life. Authorities from Kada Dham police station in Kaushambi district reported that 32-year-old Shailesh Kumar was poisoned by his wife, Savita, who suspected him of having an affair.
According to police, Savita observed the Karwa Chauth fast on Sunday and Shailesh actively participated in the preparations throughout the day. Later in the evening, when Savita was breaking her fast, an argument broke out between the couple. However, the situation seemed to settle, and they shared a meal together. After dinner, Savita asked Shailesh to visit a neighbor’s house, then fled.
Shailesh’s brother, Akhilesh, said he rushed Shailesh to the hospital, where Shailesh recorded a video statement accusing Savita of poisoning his food. Unfortunately, he passed away during treatment.
Superintendent of Police Brijesh Kumar Shrivastava confirmed the incident, stating, “The crime was reported from Ismailpur village. The woman allegedly poisoned her husband after they had a fight. The man died during treatment. A case has been registered, the woman has been arrested and the body has been sent for a post-mortem.”
