In a tragic accident at a fair in Madhonagar village, Kannauj, 13-year-old Anuradha Katheria sustained critical injuries when her hair became caught in the machinery of a swing ride, leading to the complete detachment of her scalp. A disturbing video of the incident shows her scalp hanging from the ride’s rod as onlookers hurried to halt the swing. The footage quickly went viral, highlighting the urgent need for improved safety measures at local fairs.
The incident took place on Saturday evening at an annual fair organized by Shri Shri 1008 Swami Nityananda Seva Samiti. Anuradha, bleeding profusely from her head injuries, fainted on the spot. Her family initially transported her to a private hospital in Gursahaiganj, but as her condition worsened, she was transferred to PGI in Lucknow for specialized treatment. She remains in critical condition.

Following the incident, safety experts have urged fair-goers to adhere strictly to ride safety protocols. They advise riders to remain seated until the ride has come to a complete stop and to ensure all safety restraints, including seat belts and lap bars, are securely in place before the ride begins. Experts emphasize the importance of not standing, leaning out, or loosening restraints during the ride, as these safety features are specifically designed to prevent accidents during sudden turns and high-speed movements.
