Zelenskyy, Trump Discuss Peace Talks Over Phone Call As US-Ukraine Ties Enter New Phase

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy conducts a phone conversation with US President Donald Trump relating to peace negotiations, security advancement, and mutual economic cooperation between their countries.

After Trump’s call with Russian President Vladimir Putin, in which he made his appeal for immediate peace negotiations in regard to conflict of Ukraine.

Zelenskyy described the phone call as “meaningful” in an X post, where they exchanged ideas concerning technological development in Ukraine as it concerns drones and other industries, in addition to their willingness to cooperate on the economic and security fronts.

According to his office, the meeting lasted about an hour, during which the visit of US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent to Kyiv was discussed regarding the critical minerals agreement between the two nations.

The discussion included the declaration of intentions regarding the creation of a new document on security and economic cooperation in conjunction with the resource partnership, while Trump informed them about his call with Putin.

Zelenskyy stated that they have agreed to keep the communication lines open and have made plans for future meetings to further discuss peace and cooperation.
