Xcoal Energy and Resources CEO Ernie Thrasher expressed his enthusiasm about Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to the United States, particularly early in US President Donald Trump’s administration. Thrasher emphasized the vast opportunities that lie ahead for US companies in the energy and natural resources sectors to collaborate with Indian companies.
US-India Energy Cooperation: Unlimited Potential
In an interview with ANI, Thrasher stated, “We’re very excited about the Prime Minister coming here, especially so early in the president’s administration. I think the opportunities for US companies in the energy and natural resources space to deal with and have commercial relationships with Indian companies is unlimited.” He noted that India’s growing energy demand spans across multiple sectors, including coal, oil, LNG, and nuclear energy.
Nuclear Energy and Collaboration
When discussing the potential for nuclear cooperation between India and the US, Thrasher stated, “India needs all forms of energy, including nuclear, but there is also a tremendous demand for energy from coal, oil, and LNG.” He expressed hope that the discussions between PM Modi and President Trump would lead to greater nuclear cooperation, further strengthening the energy ties between the two nations.
The Visit and Energy Talks
PM Modi’s visit to the US follows his three-day visit to France and marks the first official trip to the United States since President Trump’s second term inauguration. The discussions between PM Modi and US Vice President JD Vance, as well as with President Trump, are expected to focus on energy diversification and clean, reliable US nuclear technology.
Thrasher, whose company supplies natural resources, raw materials, and energy products worldwide, believes that the strengthening of the India-US energy partnership could lead to long-term, mutually beneficial commercial relationships.
