Karoline Leavitt, aged 27 and a former White House intern, is the newest youngest press secretary in U.S. history; she made her debut this week. This was during her first appearance inside the briefing room when she even repeated what her boss said while inaugurating office: “the golden age of America has most definitely begun.”
A Gen Z conservative, Leavitt has promised to be accessible to all media outlets, including “new media voices” like independent journalists, podcasters, social media influencers, and content creators. She previously served as a spokesperson for Trump’s 2024 campaign, interned at the White House, and worked as a presidential writer and assistant press secretary. In 2022, Leavitt became the first Republican from Gen Z to win a GOP primary.
Leavitt, whom Donald Trump has described as ‘smart, tough’, and a ‘highly effective communicator’, has been hailed as a Gen Z political trailblazer. A die-hard Trump supporter, she posted a video of herself unloading a machine gun, captioned, ‘Joe Biden come and take it’.
The youngest press secretary to date, Leavitt replaces 29-year-old Ronald Ziegler who served under President Nixon in 1969. In fact, Leavitt returned to work just four days after giving birth to her son in July last year during Trump’s campaign when he suffered an assassination attempt.
Leavitt married Nicholas Robert, 60-year-old real estate mogul and 32 years older than her. At Christmas 2023, the girl wrote in one of the post; “This has been the best Christmas of my life. I get to marry the man of my dreams. I feel so overwhelmingly blessed. Thank you God.”
