UAE, Azerbaijan Presidents Discuss Cooperation at ADSW

Abu Dhabi [UAE]: UAE President Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan hosted Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev during his working visit to the UAE for Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week (ADSW). The meeting highlighted both nations’ shared commitment to addressing global challenges and enhancing cooperation in vital sectors.

Warm Welcome and Congratulatory Remarks

President Mohamed bin Zayed expressed his delight in hosting President Aliyev and praised Azerbaijan’s successful organization of the 29th Conference of the Parties (COP29) to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change. He acknowledged President Aliyev’s leadership, which played a pivotal role in the event’s success.

Focus on Renewable Energy and Investment

The two leaders discussed expanding collaboration in renewable energy, economy, investment, and sustainable development. President Mohamed bin Zayed emphasized the partnership between Masdar and the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR) in advancing wind and solar energy projects.

Strengthening Bilateral Cooperation

During their meeting at Qasr Al Shati, the presidents explored opportunities to enhance ties across various sectors, including climate action, infrastructure development, and economic growth. President Mohamed bin Zayed reiterated the UAE’s interest in strengthening relations with Azerbaijan and the broader Caucasus region.

President Aliyev thanked President Mohamed bin Zayed for the invitation and hospitality. He reaffirmed Azerbaijan’s commitment to deepening relations with the UAE, particularly in combating climate change and fostering global cooperation.
