Turkey Aids UAE In Arrest Of Israeli Rabbi’s Murder Suspects
The UAE, with Turkey’s assistance, arrested three Uzbek suspects linked to the murder of Zvi Kogan, a 28-year-old Israeli rabbi and Moldovan national, living in the UAE. Turkish intelligence and police carried out a covert operation in Istanbul over the weekend to apprehend the suspects.
Acting on a UAE request, Turkish authorities tracked the suspects’ arrival flight and arrested them shortly after they left Istanbul airport. The suspects, aged 28 to 33, were extradited to the UAE for further investigation.
Rabbi Kogan, an active member of the UAE’s Jewish community, was reported missing last Thursday. His body was found on Sunday. Israeli officials believe the attack was antisemitic, while the exact motive remains unclear.
The investigation involves collaboration between the UAE, Turkey, Uzbekistan, and Israeli agencies. Uzbek authorities have pledged support to uncover the truth behind the murder.
This joint operation underscores the growing cooperation between Turkey and the UAE, reflecting their shared commitment to addressing cross-border crimes.
