Trump’s Immigration Forces to Launch Targeted Operations

WASHINGTON: President-elect Donald Trump’s incoming “border czar,” Tom Homan, has revealed plans for targeted enforcement operations to detain migrants in the United States illegally. The operations, set to begin next week, will involve several major cities, including Chicago and Miami.

In an interview with Fox News, Homan clarified the nature of these operations. “I wouldn’t categorize them as raids. These are going to be targeted enforcement operations,” he stated.

Focus on Sanctuary Cities and Jails

Homan addressed the challenges of operating in sanctuary cities, which have pledged not to assist federal immigration efforts. He suggested that the Trump administration would focus on detaining individuals in city jails.

“We want to arrest a bad guy in the safety and security of a county jail,” Homan emphasized.

A source indicated that New York and Miami would also be key targets. According to reports, Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) plans to deploy hundreds of agents in Chicago for a week-long operation.

Strategic and Safe Operations

Homan, a former acting director of ICE, assured that these operations are meticulously planned to ensure safety for both officers and communities.

“They will know who is possibly in the household, including children. Every target for this operation is well-planned,” Homan explained.

He further highlighted that over 700,000 illegal migrants with final removal orders remain in the U.S., stressing that President Trump is committed to securing the border and enforcing deportation measures.

Key Details About the Operations

  • Scope: Multiple cities, including sanctuary cities like Chicago, New York, and Miami.
  • Approach: Targeted detentions, focusing on migrants with criminal records or final removal orders.
  • Safety Measures: Detailed plans to protect officers and communities during operations.

Homan refrained from providing specifics about when the deportation flights would begin but reiterated the administration’s strong stance on border security and enforcement.
