Trump Takes Narrow Lead Over Harris In Tight Presidential Race, Survey Shows

With the US presidential elections just around the corner, a new survey conducted by The Wall Street Journal shows Donald Trump holding a slight edge over Kamala Harris. The poll, which surveyed 1,500 registered voters, reveals Trump leading with 47% support compared to Harris’ 45%. With only 12 days left until Election Day on November 5, the race remains incredibly close, with both candidates’ numbers falling within the margin of error.

Close Race Reflects Shift from August Polls

The poll’s results mark a notable shift from August, when Harris had a 2-point lead over Trump. However, this lead was also within the margin of error, making it clear that neither candidate has established a definitive advantage throughout the campaign.

Swing States Hold the Key to Victory

While the national poll shows a slight advantage for Trump, both candidates remain neck-and-neck in key swing states, which will ultimately determine the outcome of the Electoral College. According to a Washington Post poll, Trump and Harris have narrow leads in different battleground states, keeping the race too close to call.

Voter Favorability: Trump Gains Ground

Trump’s favorability rating has reached its highest point yet in *The Wall Street Journal*’s polling, with 48% of voters viewing him positively. Harris, on the other hand, has seen a dip in her favorability, dropping from 49% in August to 45% in the most recent survey. Despite this, neither candidate has managed to surpass the crucial 50% favorability mark.

Vice Presidential Nominees Show Similar Trends

The vice presidential nominees—JD Vance for the Republicans and Tim Walz for the Democrats—are also seeing similar shifts in favorability. Vance’s ratings have increased from 40% to 45%, while Walz has experienced a slight decline from 46% to 44%.

Trump’s Unusual Campaign Stop vs Harris’ Spiritual Support

In the final stretch of the campaign, both candidates are pulling out all the stops. Over the weekend, Donald Trump made a surprising appearance at a McDonald’s in Philadelphia, donning an apron and making fries while interacting with staff. Trump humorously remarked, “I like this job,” and emphasized the skill required for fast food work, possibly as a jab at Harris’ comments about working in a fast-food chain during her college years.

Meanwhile, Kamala Harris celebrated her 60th birthday in Atlanta, participating in two church services where legendary musician Stevie Wonder performed. Wonder’s set included his hit “Higher Ground” and a rendition of Bob Marley’s “Redemption Song,” and he even serenaded Harris with “Happy Birthday.”

During her public address in Georgia, Harris reflected on the divisions in the country, stating, “Our country is at a crossroads, and where we go is up to us.”
