US President Donald Trump is having a telephone conversation with Russian President Vladimir Putin, which was initiated at 10:00 a.m. EDT, according to White House Deputy Chief of Staff Dan Scavino.
Scavino released the news on X, citing that the talks were still being carried out and “going well.” The White House confirmed the extremely awaited phone call is hoping to convince Putin to sign an offer of a 30-day ceasefire as an achievable step to the end of the current fighting.
US government has been advocating for a brief cease-fire as a way of reducing tensions and seeking diplomatic solutions. Although few details of the dialogue are available, the results of the discussions may fundamentally change the course of the war. The Kremlin has not yet made any official comment on the negotiations.
