US President Donald Trump on Saturday condemned Hamas for not meeting his 12 p.m. deadline to free all hostages, reiterating his backing of whatever action Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu chooses to take in retaliation.

Taking to Truth Social, Trump recognized Hamas’ release of three hostages, one of whom was an American citizen, but noted that the militant group had not met his call for a full release. “Hamas just released three hostages from Gaza, including an American citizen. They look to be in good health! This is different from what they said last week that they would not release hostages,” Trump posted. “Israel will now have to determine what they are going to do about the 12:00 O’CLOCK, TODAY, DEADLINE imposed on the release of ALL HOSTAGES. US will support whatever decision they make!”

Earlier, Hamas released Alexander Sasha Troufanov, Sagui Dekel Chen, an American-Israeli, and Iair Horn, following earlier threats it would suspend releases due to reports of Israeli violations of the ceasefire deal.

Netanyahu had been supportive of Trump’s demand for total release of the hostages and threatened that refusal to do so would lead to termination of the ceasefire. “If Hamas doesn’t bring back our hostages by noon on Saturday, the ceasefire collapses and the IDF will launch hard fighting until the defeat of Hamas is certain,” Netanyahu declared, citing the uniform support of his cabinet.

Trump had originally imposed the deadline earlier in the week, threatening that any breakdown in Hamas to free all of the hostages by noon Saturday would mark the end of the ceasefire agreement and the return to Israeli military action. “If all of the hostages aren’t back by Saturday at 12 o’clock, I would say cancel it, and all bets are off let hell break out,” Trump had said. The ceasefire, which was put in place on January 19, had set the stage for prisoner swaps between Israel and Hamas, but tensions remain high over the partial release of hostages.
