As he declared he was trying to broker a ceasefire between Thailand and Cambodia, US President Donald Trump on Saturday stated the heightened tensions between the neighboring nations "very much" brought back memories of the India-Pakistan conflict.
In a post on Truth Social, Trump stated efforts were being made to see Thailand and Cambodia agree to a ceasefire arrangement, and that he reached out to the leaders of both nations through individual phone calls.
"I am trying to simplify a complex situation! Many people are being killed in this War, but it very much reminds me of the Conflict between Pakistan and India, which was brought to a successful halt," a part of Trump's post made after his conversation with the Prime Minister of Cambodia.
India and Pakistan have just experienced a military clash after the initiation of Operation Sindoor on May 7, an action aimed at destroying terror infrastructure in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir.
India initiated the operation days after a terror attack in Jammu and Kashmir's Pahalgam had killed 26 people, all of them civilians.
A war with the neighboring countries followed when Pakistan began targeting Indian Army bases, and a ceasefire was declared on May 10.
Since then, Donald Trump has said several times that facilitated the ceasefire, tying the action to a trade. India has refuted his assertion stating the ceasefire was settled bilaterally, but Pakistan gives credit to Trump for easing tensions between the neighborly countries.
Trump's latest comment on India-Pakistan war came while he was talking about the clashes between Thailand and Cambodia. In later tweets, Trump claimed that he had spoken with leaders of both countries bordering each other and they desire an immediate ceasefire. "After speaking to both Parties, Ceasefire, Peace, and Prosperity seems to be a natural. We will soon see!" a part of his post read.
Trump also claimed that both nations desired to be on the 'trading table' with America, but made it clear that he would move on it only after the peace is established.
