Trump Administration Mulls Travel Ban on THESE 41 Countries, Memo Reveals

The Trump administration is proposing fresh travel bans on citizens of some countries, a Reuters report citing an internal memo says. A U.S. official, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said the list was for temporary purposes and could be amended, subject to approval by U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio.

The memo specifies three possible categories of the travel ban: total visa suspension, suspended visa for particular visa categories of tourists, students, and others, and suspension of parts in countries that don’t work towards removing particular ‘deficiencies’ that were picked out by the U.S.

Donald Trump, in his first term, introduced a travel ban on seven mainly Islamic countries, which the Supreme Court later upheld. His predecessor, however, cancelled the order, labeling it a stain on the country’s “political conscience.” Trump also signed an executive order on January 20 to introduce stricter vetting for foreign nationals as a way of identifying threats to national security.
