Trudeau Accuses India Of Sabotaging Canadian Safety Amid Interference Claims

Allegations of Violence and Terrorism

Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau testified on Wednesday before a public inquiry into foreign interference, emphasizing the Canadian government’s foundational responsibility to address violence and terrorism. Trudeau expressed concerns regarding India’s potential role in inciting violence against Canada, urging the Indian government to take these allegations seriously.

Investigating India’s Involvement

During his testimony, Trudeau revealed that Canada is seeking assistance from India to determine whether recent violent incidents were carried out by rogue elements or sanctioned by higher authorities within the Indian government. He noted the importance of uncovering the truth behind these actions, stressing that the Canadian authorities need India’s cooperation to investigate the internal dynamics at play.

Commitment to Canadian Sovereignty

Trudeau condemned the Indian government’s actions, asserting that they undermine Canadian sovereignty and safety, particularly for South Asian Canadians. He reiterated that Canada does not aim to provoke conflict with India but must respond to any threats to its citizens. Trudeau also clarified that Canada respects India’s territorial integrity and expects similar respect in return. He affirmed Canada’s commitment to protecting the freedoms of all individuals living in Canada, emphasizing the importance of upholding democratic values and the rights of those holding political beliefs that may differ from those in their home countries.
