Severe 411-Mile Snowstorm To Hit UK: Warnings Issued

Large parts of the UK are on high alert as a 411-mile (661 km) snowstorm is expected to bring freezing temperatures and travel disruptions ahead of the holiday season. The Met Office has issued weather warnings, while maps indicate severe conditions from November 30 to December 9, with December 7 marked as the peak day for snow flurries, according to WX Charts.

Regions such as Newcastle, Cumbria, Northumberland, and Greater Manchester are forecasted to experience the harshest weather. The Met Office stated:
“The largely dry, settled theme may be punctuated by brief unsettled spells though with areas of low pressure possibly crossing the UK, bringing some spells of wind and rain.”

However, it added that conditions would stabilize by mid-December.

Dry Areas and Temperature Outlook

While parts of the Midlands, Wales, and Northern Ireland are expected to stay dry, other regions brace for heavy rain and snow. Temperatures are predicted to fall below freezing in Scotland, while England and Wales will see averages of 4-5°C during the day. Overnight frost is also likely.

Regions Affected

Southeast England:

  • Brighton and Hove
  • East Sussex
  • Greater London
  • Hampshire
  • Isle of Wight
  • Kent

Southwest England:

  • Bournemouth, Christchurch, and Poole
  • Devon
  • Dorset
  • Torbay

Heavy Rain Forecast

Plymouth and Southampton are preparing for 75-80mm of rainfall, while London, Birmingham, and Cardiff may experience 35-40mm.

The storm follows last week’s Storm Bert, which caused widespread flooding and disruption across the UK.
