Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to embark on a four-day visit to France and the United States from February 10-13, where he will hold high-level discussions with French President Emmanuel Macron and US President Donald Trump. AI Action Summit with Macron
On February 11, PM Modi will co-chair the AI Action Summit in France alongside President Macron. The summit, the third of its kind after previous editions in the UK (2023) and South Korea (2024), will discuss the role of artificial intelligence in global development.
Following the summit, PM Modi will address the India-France CEOs Forum, discussing economic and technological collaborations. He will also visit Marseille on February 11, where President Macron will host a special dinner.
Honoring Indian Soldiers in France
On February 12, both leaders will visit a World War I cemetery to honor Indian soldiers who sacrificed their lives. They will also inaugurate the newest Consulate General of India in Marseille and visit the Kadash facility, a key site for international nuclear research.
PM Modi’s US Visit & Meeting with Trump
After France, PM Modi will travel to the US on February 12-13 for his first visit since President Trump’s re-election. The visit highlights the strong India-US partnership, with discussions covering defense, energy, and trade.
Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri emphasized that PM Modi’s visit within weeks of the new US administration taking office signifies the deep ties between the two nations. Talks will include tariff policies, trade agreements, and strategic security cooperation.
Discussions on Deportation of Indian Nationals
Amid rising concerns about deported Indian nationals, Misri clarified that India has been transparent in discussions with US authorities. He reaffirmed India’s commitment to ensuring the dignity and fair treatment of deportees while addressing illegal immigration issues.
Extradition of Tahawwur Rana
India is coordinating with US authorities on the extradition of Tahawwur Rana, a key conspirator in the 26/11 Mumbai attacks. His legal avenues in the US have been exhausted, and preparations are underway for his transfer to Indian custody.
Security of Diplomatic Premises
Regarding recent attacks on the memorial and residence of Bangladesh’s founding leader Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, Misri emphasized that the security of diplomatic premises is the host nation’s responsibility, expressing confidence in Bangladesh’s handling of the situation.
