Prime Minister Narendra Modi congratulated US President-elect Donald Trump following his victory in the recent Congressional elections. In a phone call, Modi praised Trump for his “spectacular victory” and expressed enthusiasm about future collaborations to strengthen India-US relations across key sectors including technology, defense, energy, and space.
In a tweet after their conversation, Modi expressed his excitement for future cooperation with Trump, stating, “Looking forward to working closely together once again to further strengthen India-US relations across technology, defence, energy, space, and several other sectors.”
Trump, elected as the 47th President of the United States, secured a victory after winning key battleground states like Pennsylvania, Wisconsin, and Georgia, which had previously supported Biden in the 2020 election. The race was called for Trump early in the morning, as pollsters declared his win in Wisconsin.
During the call, President Trump expressed admiration for Prime Minister Modi, saying, “The whole world loves PM Modi.” He praised India as a “magnificent country” and Modi as a “magnificent man.” Trump also highlighted that Modi was among the first world leaders he spoke to following his victory.
Both leaders emphasized their shared commitment to working together for world peace, further solidifying their strong diplomatic relationship.
