A shooting at UPMC Memorial Hospital on Saturday resulted in multiple injuries, including at least two law enforcement officers and a nurse, according to officials familiar with the situation.
The hospital confirmed reports of an active shooter, stating that law enforcement acted quickly to secure the facility and apprehend the suspect.
ABC News quoted the hospital’s statement: “We have received confirmed reports of a gunman at UPMC Memorial, and shots fired. The gunman has been apprehended, and no patients have been injured. The hospital is now secure.”
Authorities have not yet disclosed the exact number of injuries, but no patients were harmed during the attack. According to a report by the Associated Press, the shooter had been “neutralised.”
Law enforcement agencies remain at the scene as they continue their investigation.
