Over 1,100 Guided Bombs In A Week: Zelenskyy Alleges Escalated Russian Onslaught

Kyiv [Ukraine], October 27 — Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has reported a sharp increase in Russian military attacks, alleging that over the past week alone, Russia launched more than 1,100 guided aerial bombs, over 560 strike drones, and around 20 different missiles across Ukraine.

Zelenskyy’s Message to Ukrainians

In a recent social media post on X, President Zelenskyy addressed the ongoing challenges, writing, “Russia does not stop its terror against Ukraine. Daily, it launches aggression against our people, cities, and villages, using various types of weapons.” He went on to express gratitude to the resilient Ukrainian defense forces and support teams who work tirelessly to protect and save lives.

“I want to express my gratitude to our people who work day and night to protect Ukrainians from Russian attacks, provide assistance, and are always ready to save lives,” Zelenskyy shared in his post.

Ukraine’s Defensive Strategy

Zelenskyy highlighted ongoing efforts by his administration to strengthen Ukraine’s defenses and collaborate with international allies, stating, “We are working hard with our partners to stop the enemy, strengthen Ukraine, and provide maximum protection for our people so that this Russian terror becomes impossible.”

Despite bolstering its defense systems with Western support, Ukraine is facing unprecedented daily bombardments, particularly in its eastern and southern regions. The escalating attacks have spurred calls for more sophisticated and long-range defense capabilities.

Escalation of the Russia-Ukraine Conflict

Since Russia’s invasion of Ukraine in February 2022, thousands of civilian lives have been lost amid airstrikes and assaults on urban centers. While Moscow denies targeting civilians, international observers and evidence from residential strikes have pointed to severe and widespread impacts on Ukrainian cities and infrastructure.

Russia’s ongoing strategy has relied on a diverse arsenal, from guided bombs and missiles to unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), aiming to cripple critical infrastructure and demoralize Ukraine. In response, Ukraine continues to appeal for international support to fortify its defense capabilities against the relentless aerial assaults.
