The Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs has officially extended congratulations to Donald Trump on his victory in the 2024 U.S. presidential election, as reported by CNN.
In a message posted on X, the ministry stated, “We respect the American people’s choice and offer our congratulations to Mr. Trump for his election.” However, Chinese leader Xi Jinping has yet to make a public statement on the outcome, according to CNN.
Following Trump’s win over Democratic candidate and Vice President Kamala Harris on Wednesday, several global leaders sent their congratulations. Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed his congratulations in a post on X, writing, “Heartiest congratulations my friend @realDonaldTrump on your historic election victory.” PM Modi voiced optimism for advancing the Indo-U.S. partnership under Trump’s second term, stating, “As you build on the successes of your previous term, I look forward to renewing our collaboration to further strengthen the India-U.S. Comprehensive Global and Strategic Partnership. Together, let’s work for the betterment of our people and to promote global peace, stability, and prosperity.”

British Prime Minister Keir Starmer also congratulated Trump, emphasizing the close alliance between their countries. In his post, Starmer wrote, “Congratulations President-elect Trump on your historic election victory. I look forward to working with you in the years ahead.”
Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese reaffirmed the strong friendship between the U.S. and Australia, posting, “Congratulations to President Donald Trump on his election victory. Australians and Americans are great friends and true allies. Working together, we can ensure the partnership between our nations and peoples remains strong into the future.”

French President Emmanuel Macron extended his own congratulations, posting, “Congratulations President Donald Trump. Ready to work together as we have done for four years. With your convictions and with mine. With respect and ambition. For more peace and prosperity.”
Israel’s Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu also offered his congratulations on what he called Trump’s “historic return to the White House,” adding, “Congratulations on history’s greatest comeback! Your historic return to the White House offers a new beginning for America and a powerful recommitment to the great alliance between Israel and America.”
This marks only the second time in U.S. history that a president will serve two non-consecutive terms in the White House.
