Nationwide Protests Erupt Across US As Thousands Rally Against Trump’s Re-Election

Protests erupted across the United States on Saturday as thousands took to the streets to oppose Donald Trump’s recent re-election, expressing concern over his plans to restrict reproductive rights and initiate mass deportations. Demonstrations spanned both coasts, with large gatherings in cities including New York, Seattle, and Washington, DC.

In New York City, crowds rallied outside Trump International Hotel, led by workers’ rights and immigrant justice groups. Protesters held signs with messages such as “We protect us,” “Mr. President, how long must women wait for liberty?” and “We won’t back down,” as they chanted, “Here we are, and we’re not leaving!”

Washington, DC, witnessed a similar wave of protest, with Women’s March demonstrators gathering outside the Heritage Foundation, a conservative think tank behind Project 2025. Images shared on social media showed demonstrators holding signs reading, “Well-behaved women don’t make history” and “Where’s my liberty when I have no choice?” while chanting, “We believe that we will win!”

In Seattle, a crowd gathered near the Space Needle, with posters calling for resistance against “Trump and the two-party war machine” and urging people to “Build the people’s movement.” Demonstrators also expressed solidarity with Palestinians in light of the ongoing conflict in Gaza. One speaker addressed the crowd, saying, “Any president who comes to power has let workers down.”

Protests against Trump continued on Friday in other cities. In Portland, Oregon, demonstrators outside city hall carried signs reading, “Fight fascism” and “Turn fear into fight.” Cody Urban, a representative of the International League of People’s Struggle, told KGW, “We’re here because we’ve fought for years for health, housing, and education, and haven’t received it under any administration.”

In Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, protestors gathered at Point State Park with signs saying “We are not going back” and “My body, my choice.” Steve Capri, an organizer with Socialist Alternative, spoke to WPXI, stating, “Trump is an attack on all of us. We need to unite, organize, and learn together.”
