Luigi Mangione Asks Supporters to Stop Sending Him Too Many Photos

Luigi Mangione, accused of killing United Healthcare CEO Brian Thompson, has asked his fans to refrain from sending so many photos. In a posting on his website for his legal defense fund, Mangione wrote that he is not able to handle the surfeit of photographs at his Brooklyn federal holding cell, according to the New York Post.

A note in the FAQ area of the site clarifies, “Luigi is allowed to receive photos via Shutterfly and FreePrints in accordance with mail procedures while in custody. Due to the volume of photos, they could take longer than usual to be screened and shared. Luigi appreciates the photos that are sent and kindly asks that people send no more than five photos at a time.”

Agencies have reassured that each photograph received by Mangione has gone through vigorous vetting and review by authorities before reaching his hands.

Legal Fund Surpasses $615,000

Luigi Mangione, 26, has been behind bars since his arrest in Thompson’s sensational murder case. Even with the serious allegations, his legal defense fund has received huge donations, totaling over $615,000 as of Tuesday. The site gives regular updates on his case and refers followers to a donation page specifically aimed at funding his legal fight.

In a statement on the site, Mangione thanked the overwhelming support he has garnered. “I am overwhelmed by-and grateful for-everyone who has written to share their stories and express their support. Remarkably, this support has crossed political, racial, and even class divides,” he stated. “While I am unable to respond to most letters, please know that I read every one I receive. Thank you again to everyone who took the time to write. I look forward to hearing more in the future..”

Supporters Rally Outside Courthouse

Mangione’s most recent court hearing brought dozens of committed supporters who stood in the cold outside a Manhattan courthouse last Friday, waiting for a glimpse of the suspect.

The Ivy League-educated son of a prominent Maryland real estate dynasty appeared in court in designer loafers, his ankles shackled clearly. Mangione is being held in custody while legal proceedings unfold, with widespread public interest in the case.
