Los Angeles Wildfires: Family of Four Generations Lost Homes

Los Angeles Wildfires have been leaving trails of destruction throughout Los Angeles as families lose their homes and everything they have worked for. This is the case with Danielle Stone and her extended family, who lost four generations of homes, according to The Los Angeles Times.

The fires have engulfed thousands of acres of dry hills, turning them into uncontrollable infernos, fanned by strong Santa Ana winds. Fires have reduced homes to ashes, and many residents are struggling to cope with the aftermath. As of now, the death toll from the fires has reached at least 27. Firefighters and emergency responders are working tirelessly to control the flames and assist those displaced by the disaster.

Fierce Fires Leave Families in Ruins

Danielle Stone, 37 years of age, with her family, faced the worst. Originally residing in Altadena Los Angeles County Danielle along with her husband Bryan Davila and their young daughter Melina had to leave at the very spread of fires. They were accommodated in her parent’s nearby home. The fires caught up with them too.

It didn’t end there. Danielle’s grandmother, Helena Montanez, had to evacuate her home of 60 years because of the relentless fires. Within moments, all three homes belonging to different generations of the family were destroyed. The loss is not only material but emotional, as each generation had painstakingly built their homes over time.

Danielle said that the heartbreak makes it feel weird not to be able to go home. It doesn’t feel as real. You go to sleep and you wake up and you’re like, ‘Is this real?’ She said that her grandmother had sacrificed everything to create a safe home for the family and that her parents had also worked hard to provide a stable environment for their children.

Rebuilding with Hope

Despite the crushing loss, Danielle remains determined to rebuild. She and her family have started a GoFundMe campaign with a goal of $130,000 to help reconstruct their Altadena house. The campaign has already collected $108,825 as a testament to the community’s support during this challenging time.

Danielle stressed the importance of rebuilding. “My parents, you know, penny for penny, saved and worked super hard to do whatever they could to create a safe home for me and my sister. For Bryan and I.”

Ongoing Threat of the Los Angeles Wildfires

The Los Angeles wildfires have already burnt over 40,000 acres (16,000 hectares) of land. The situation remains grave, with efforts to quell the fires still underway in the region. Many families are left to rebuild their lives as Danielle Stone does.
