Rep. Lauren Boebert’s grandson was party to an episode which led to her problematic eldest son, Tyler Boebert, being charged with child abuse.
Details of the Incident and Police Records
Citing Denver Westword reporting based on records from the Windsor Police Department, a Saturday report said Tyler, 20-year-old son of the Republican congressman and her former husband, Jayson, was charged with a felony in Colorado on July 11.
Though minimizing the allegations, Boebert asserted that it was the result of “a miscommunication on watching my young grandson who recently escaped from our house.”
Boebert, representing Colorado’s fourth congressional district, termed the incident as a “one-time incident” and said that the boy remained uninjured.
A Family Matter, Says Boebert
“I am confident this is a one-time incident that we have addressed as a family,” the 38-year-old grandmother said.
Her statement indicates a desire to frame the situation as a private family matter rather than a reflection of deeper behavioral or legal concerns.
History of Troubles Involving Tyler Boebert
In 2023, the three-term congresswoman reported that Tyler’s boyfriend got pregnant with his child when he was just 17 years old.
The teenage fatherhood announcement brought national attention to the family, especially given Boebert’s vocal stance on family values and conservative policies. The case is the latest in a string of legal issues plaguing Boebert’s oldest son.
While Lauren Boebert attempts to move past this episode by downplaying its severity, Tyler’s repeated brushes with controversy continue to attract scrutiny, raising questions about the family’s private challenges and public image.
