King Charles III Plans Royal Tour Of India As PM Modi Extends Invitation To Royal Couple

As Britain works to enhance its global relationships in the post-Brexit era, plans are underway for King Charles III and Queen Camilla to embark on a royal tour of India, Pakistan, and Bangladesh. The visit, which marks a significant step in the King’s recovery from cancer, is seen as an opportunity to strengthen Britain’s economic and cultural ties with these key nations.

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi is believed to have extended an invitation to the royal couple, who recently concluded a tour of Australia. According to reports, the visit to the Indian subcontinent had been initially planned for 2022 but was postponed due to the passing of Queen Elizabeth II. However, sources close to the monarchy indicate that preparations for the trip are now progressing.

“This is incredibly encouraging, particularly after the challenges the King has faced this year,” an insider shared with The Mirror. “The proposed tour holds significant political and cultural weight, solidifying Britain’s global presence at a crucial time.”

King Charles has a long history with India, having made ten official visits during his time as Prince of Wales. His most recent trip in 2019 focused on strengthening bilateral relations, and more recently, the King and Queen visited India for a retreat after their Australian and Samoan tours. Now, the monarch is enthusiastic about returning to India in an official capacity as King.

The upcoming tour will also include visits to Pakistan and Bangladesh, with discussions underway between the British Foreign Office and the respective governments. Prime Minister Modi’s interest in hosting the royal couple is seen as a significant step in reaffirming the relationship between Britain and India.

Despite facing health challenges earlier this year, King Charles is recovering well and is expected to resume a full schedule of royal engagements next year, depending on his doctors’ recommendations. Buckingham Palace has yet to confirm the details of specific trips, but reports suggest a packed calendar of overseas visits is being planned for 2025.

A palace aide noted, “The King has genuinely enjoyed his tours this year, and they have lifted his spirits and aided his recovery. Despite the demands, the tours have been the perfect tonic.” King Charles made his public return in April, visiting a cancer treatment center with Queen Camilla, and continued with engagements like Trooping the Colour in June, marking a successful and encouraging recovery since his diagnosis.
