Jimmy Kimmel Tears Up in Emotional Monologue After Trump’s Election Win: WATCH

Los Angeles, California: Popular talk show host Jimmy Kimmel, known for his humor and wit, struggled to keep his composure following Donald Trump’s re-election victory. In an emotional monologue on *Jimmy Kimmel Live!* on ABC, Kimmel expressed dismay over the election outcome, saying, “It was a terrible night for women, for children, for the hundreds of thousands of hardworking immigrants who make this country great,” as the audience applauded to comfort him.

Visibly upset, Kimmel continued, calling it a “terrible night” for healthcare, the climate, science, justice, journalism, and free speech. He choked up again as he listed those impacted, from senior citizens and social security to NATO and allies in Ukraine, even saying it was a “bad night” for Trump’s own supporters: “You just don’t realize it yet.” As the audience supported him with applause, Kimmel finally cracked a smile, lightening the moment by adding, “And most of all, it was an absolute disaster of a night for Melania,” drawing laughter from the crowd.

Ending on a hopeful note, Kimmel mused, “Maybe, in the long run, this will wake us up. Maybe those who care so much about him will see how little he cares about them… and maybe the one good thing is he won’t be able to run again in 2028.”

Meanwhile, fellow comedian Stephen Colbert also addressed Trump’s win on *The Late Show* with a humorous take on the notion that Trump is good for comic material. “As a late-night host, people say, ‘You must love it when Trump wins; so much material!’ Well, no,” Colbert joked, comparing it to “the guy who cleans the bathroom ‘loving’ a mess.” He concluded his monologue with a playful dig, saying, “The first time he started as a joke and ended as a tragedy… this time he starts as a tragedy; maybe he’ll end as a limerick?” as laughter filled the studio.

Both hosts reflected on the uncertainty of the next four years, leaving viewers with a mix of laughter, insight, and a sense of shared unease.
