Jaishankar Boosts India’s Global Influence, Talks FDI, Security With World Leaders

External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar has been actively advancing India’s global influence by engaging in high-level discussions with international leaders. His recent talks covered pivotal topics such as foreign direct investment (FDI), technology, maritime security, and the ongoing Ukraine conflict.

Meeting with David Cameron: FDI and Cricket on the Agenda

In a post on X (formerly Twitter), Jaishankar shared details of his meeting with former UK Prime Minister David Cameron. The two discussed the current global landscape, touching on serious matters like FDI while also sharing a lighter moment discussing their mutual interest in cricket. Jaishankar expressed, “Pleased to meet @David_Cameron. A nice discussion about the state of the world. Including about cricket.”

Strategic Discussions with MPs from Australia and Germany

Earlier the same day, Jaishankar interacted with Members of Parliament from Australia and Germany, focusing on strategic concerns like technology, supply chains, and maritime security in the Indo-Pacific region. His engagement highlighted India’s commitment to enhancing global security and fostering economic collaboration. He shared his thoughts in another X post, stating, “Pleased to interact with MPs from Australia and Germany, today in Delhi. We exchanged views on FDI, technology, supply chains, maritime security, the Indo-Pacific, and Ukraine.”

India’s Economic Rise: From Predictions to Reality

Jaishankar also highlighted India’s promising economic future at the NDTV World Summit 2024, where he cited a Goldman Sachs study predicting India would become the third-largest economy by 2030. He remarked, “By 2075, we could be a USD 52.5 trillion economy, second largest in the world, but much nearer, by 2030, we would probably be the third-largest economy.”

His speech further emphasized the importance of India’s burgeoning talent pool, particularly in Europe and North America, which increasingly seek Indian skills and expertise due to the country’s demographic advantages.

Global Leadership in Times of Crisis

In addition to economic growth, Jaishankar underscored the importance of leadership during global crises, referencing the ongoing conflict in Ukraine and the potential risks of natural disasters in the Indian Ocean. He pointed out that strong leadership and strategic attitudes are essential qualities for countries navigating turbulent times.

Conclusion: India’s Growing Global Impact

Through these discussions, Jaishankar has reinforced India’s standing as a critical player in international affairs, particularly in areas like economic growth, maritime security, and global stability. His engagements reflect India’s unwavering commitment to strengthening its global relationships and addressing pressing challenges on the world stage.
