Palestinian terror organization Hamas put out a Saturday video featuring an Israeli-American captive, Edan Alexander, a hostage held by Gaza since being taken on Oct. 7, 2023.
The Daily Guardian could not independently verify the authenticity of the video, including when and where it was recorded in the Gaza strip.
Alexander Tells His Name, Appeals for Liberation
In the video, Alexander claims to be an Israeli soldier and has been a captive in Gaza for 551 days. He shows signs of emotional and mental fatigue, wondering why he is still a captive.
“It appears we are unwanted…and we have been abandoned here. I am falling apart due to this repulsive world and repulsive Israeli government. Daily, I witness that he – Netanyahu – dominates the nation like a dictator,” Alexander states in the video.
Criticism of Israeli Government and Trump
Alexander goes on with his message with harsh condemnation of both Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and former US President Donald Trump. Both leaders, according to Alexander, deserted him.
I am crumbling physically and emotionally. Three weeks ago, I had heard that Hamas was going to let me go. But you did not let me go and left me here! Tell me.why? Why am I here and not with my family and friends back home? Why am I making my second video today? Why?” he wonders.
“Everybody lied to me – my people, the Israeli government and the American administration. The army and everybody else,” he continues.
Direct Message to Trump
Speaking directly to the former US President, Alexander states, “President Trump, I thought that you would manage to get me out of here alive. Why did you become a victim of Netanyahu’s lies? Why? Tell me why?”
Israel Labels Video Propaganda
The government of Israel previously called off comparable videos as disinformation attempts by Hamas to enhance pressure on the government and hostages’ families.
Until now, 38 hostages were freed as part of a short-lived truce. That settlement lapsed after Israel refused to approve Hamas suggestions for continuing the ceasefire but halting fighting. There are still about 59 hostages estimated in the possession of Hamas.

Hamas Denies Releasing Hostages Except Without End to War
Hamas says it will free only remaining hostages if Israel agrees to an agreement that will end the war. It still refuses to comply with demands to disarm or surrender.
The war, which started after Hamas attacked Israel by surprise on October 7, has resulted in thousands killed and strained further diplomatic relations in the region.
