A fire in the Hollywood Hills has led to evacuations on Sunset Boulevard and Runyon Canyon. The fire was first reported shortly after 5:30 PM local time near Wattles Park in the 2300 block of N Solar Drive, said the Los Angeles Fire Department. The firefighters have confirmed that it has already scorched around 20 acres.
Social media is filled with images of the Hollywood sign, a symbol of Tinseltown, engulfed in flames. However, no official comment has been issued by the authorities. One X user posted a live webcam screenshot saying, “For those of you saying the Hollywood Sign is on fire right now. Check the live Webcams. It’s fine for now. That photo spreading is AI generated.”

While several online users were quick to share photos of the sign, another user on X mentioned, “The new fire is within walking distance of the HOLLYWOOD sign and visible from across LA.”
LAFD Public Information Officer Margaret Stewart said that people should leave quickly, saying, “We cannot stress enough: We want people to follow our current evacuation. We are asking people to evacuate early in the warning zones because this has the potential to move quick.”
The fires in Hollywood Hills are part of a larger series of wildfires that are burning across Los Angeles County. Thousands of residents have been forced to evacuate, and at least five people have tragically lost their lives.
