Iran Sends Medical Aid To Lebanon Amid Escalating Violence

The Red Crescent Society of Iran announced the arrival of its fourth aid shipment to Lebanon, which includes three tonnes of medical supplies. Babak Mahmoudi, an official from the organization, stated that the delivery features emergency medications, particularly for children.

Mahmoudi also confirmed plans to establish a new field hospital on Lebanon’s border with Syria. This initiative follows Israeli airstrikes that targeted an existing hospital just a week prior. The new facility will be constructed approximately 40 kilometers (24 miles) from the site of the previous attack.

Additionally, Mahmoudi mentioned that at least 11 Iranian Red Crescent aid workers would be deployed to Lebanon in the coming days to assist with humanitarian efforts.

During a visit to Beirut, Iran’s parliament speaker, Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, indicated that Tehran is willing to send more supplies if the Lebanese government can arrange for an air corridor over the capital.

In a related incident, four paramedics from the Lebanese Red Cross were injured in southern Lebanon due to an Israeli airstrike. According to the organization, the paramedics were responding to a rescue mission at a bombed house in Sarbin when a second airstrike struck the area. Despite being hospitalized, their injuries are not life-threatening.

The Lebanese Red Cross stated that the paramedics were coordinating with UN peacekeepers to search for casualties when the second strike occurred, resulting in concussions for the volunteers and damage to two ambulances. Israel has increased its attacks on medical responders and civil defense teams in Lebanon, even threatening to target ambulances under the pretext that they may transport Hezbollah fighters or weapons.
