India Delivers Haemo-Dialysis Machines To Pacific Nations, Strengthening Healthcare Ties

India has sent its second consignment of Haemo-Dialysis machines to four Pacific Island nations—Marshall Islands, Samoa, Solomon Islands, and Nauru—fulfilling its pledge from the Forum for India-Pacific Islands Cooperation (FIPIC III) Summit.

The shipment includes six Haemo-Dialysis machines paired with portable Reverse Osmosis (RO) units, aiming to bolster the healthcare infrastructure of these nations.

Strengthening Healthcare Collaboration

The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) highlighted the significance of this aid on its official X account, emphasizing India’s commitment to the Pacific Islands:

“Standing together with the Pacific Islands Family… This assistance will help strengthen the healthcare system of the Marshall Islands, Samoa, Solomon Islands, and Nauru.”

Key details of the consignment:

  • 3 machines for the Republic of Marshall Islands
  • 1 machine each for Samoa, Solomon Islands, and Nauru

This follows the first shipment sent to Papua New Guinea in October, showcasing India’s ongoing efforts to improve healthcare access in the region.

India’s Support Amid Global Challenges

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, during his visit to Papua New Guinea in May 2023, co-chaired the FIPIC III Summit and reaffirmed India’s dedication to addressing global challenges.

PM Modi stated:

“India stood with its Pacific island friends during challenging times… Whether it’s digital technology, health security, or climate change, we are with you in every way.”

India’s continued assistance extends to vaccines, essential medicines, food supplies, and now advanced medical equipment, underscoring its role as a reliable partner.

Commitment to a Shared Future

India’s proactive approach in supporting Pacific Island nations reflects a commitment to mutual growth and cooperation. By providing critical healthcare infrastructure, India aims to strengthen its ties with the Pacific family, ensuring a healthier and more sustainable future.
