India Confident Amid US Election Outcome: Jaishankar

External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar has assured that India is not anxious about the outcome of the recent US presidential elections, where Donald Trump triumphed over Kamala Harris. Speaking at the Aditya Birla Group Scholarships Programme in Mumbai, Jaishankar emphasized the resilience of India-US relations.

Modi’s Rapport Across US Presidencies

Jaishankar highlighted Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s ability to build strong relationships with successive US presidents, starting from Barack Obama to Joe Biden and now Donald Trump. “The Prime Minister was among the first three calls that President Trump took after his victory,” he noted, underscoring the consistent diplomatic rapport.

India’s Strategic Confidence

Unlike many nations, Jaishankar stressed that India remains confident in its ties with the US. “Today, a lot of countries are nervous about the US, but we are not one of them,” he said, reflecting India’s strategic preparedness and robust bilateral framework.

Modi Congratulates Trump

Prime Minister Modi swiftly congratulated President-elect Trump via X, affirming India’s commitment to further strengthening ties in areas like technology, defense, and energy.

Towards a Multipolar World

Jaishankar also highlighted the shift towards a multipolar world, with emerging economies like India gaining significant influence. “There’s no doubt about the global rebalancing. India is an example of this shift with its growing economic and corporate presence,” he remarked.

Conclusion

India continues to maintain a steady course in its foreign policy, leveraging its growing global influence while reinforcing strategic partnerships, especially with the US.
