The tragic New Years Eve attack in New Orleans that killed at least 15 people and injured dozens more has drawn international condemnation. The attack occurred in the citys iconic French Quarter, unifying world leaders in their expressions of solidarity with the victims and denouncing the violence.

France Expresses Deep Connection and Grief

French President Emmanuel Macron condoled the attack, underlining the historical and cultural bond France shares with New Orleans. “New Orleans, so dear to the hearts of the French, has been struck by terrorism,” he said, extending condolences to the families of the victims and the American people. Nices mayor, Christian Estrosi, remembered the pain of the 2016 attack in his city and stood in solidarity with the people of New Orleans.

The attack was described by British Prime Minister Keir Starmer as shockingly violent and sent his thoughts to victims, their families, and responders. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky denounced the violence while expressing trust in justice and offering condolences, pointing out that there is a need to reject terrorism globally.

EU and Germany Stand in Solidarity

European Union diplomat Kaja Kallas expressed sadness over the deliberate attack, offering support to victims and their families. German Chancellor Olaf Scholz condemned the violence, grieving with affected families and wishing swift recoveries to the injured.

Israeli Foreign Minister Gideon Saar extended condolences, specifically noting two injured Israeli citizens, and reiterated that terror has no place in the world. Saudi Arabia’s foreign ministry strongly condemned the attack, while Turkey expressed hope for swift justice and accountability.
