Prior to Trump’s swearing-in, J.D. Vance took the oath as Vice President of the United States. Trump and outgoing President Joe Biden arrived together at the Capitol from the White House for the ceremony. Vice President-elect J.D. Vance was accompanied by outgoing Vice President Kamala Harris.

Melania Trump, the First Lady, arrived at the Rotunda alongside Usha Vance, the wife of Vice President Vance. Jill Biden, the wife of outgoing President Biden, and Doug Emhoff, Kamala Harris’ husband, arrived ahead of them.

Trump’s cabinet nominees were seated before the inauguration began. Among the notable attendees were former presidential candidate Vivek Ramaswamy and tech entrepreneur Elon Musk, co-chairs of the newly established Department of Government Efficiency.

Former U.S. Presidents and First Ladies, including Bill and Hillary Clinton, George and Laura Bush, and Barack Obama, were present. Trump’s children—Ivanka, Donald Jr., Tiffany, Eric, and Barron—were also in attendance. Prominent figures like Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg, Amazon founder Jeff Bezos, and Google CEO Sundar Pichai attended the ceremony as well.

Following his swearing-in, President Trump will participate in a signing ceremony in the President’s Room, a tradition initiated by President Ronald Reagan in 1981. During this event, the newly inaugurated president signs nominations, memorandums, and proclamations.

After the signing ceremony, a luncheon will take place, followed by a review of the troops. Trump will then head to Capitol Hill to join the inaugural parade. Later in the day, he and Melania Trump will attend another signing ceremony at the White House and deliver remarks at the Convention Center.

The day will conclude with the First Couple’s dance at the Liberty Ball, followed by their participation in the Commander-in-Chief Ball and the United States Ball. The inaugural celebrations will end with Trump returning to the White House.
