A plan to put the face of former US President Donald Trump on a new $100 bill has been endorsed by Colorado Representative Lauren Boebert. The plan, proposed by Texas Congressman Brandon Gill under the “Golden Age Act of 2025,” proposes Trump’s 2023 mugshot during his booking at Georgia’s Fulton County Jail as the face on the bill.

As per Gill’s announcement, the bill requires all $100 bills to feature Trump’s image. Boebert, a strong Trump ally, was quick to endorse, calling to be made a co-sponsor. “The Golden Age of America has just begun. We will FIGHT FIGHT FIGHT alongside President Trump to Make America Great Again!” she wrote on X.

Gill’s announcement elicited divided reactions on social media. While some Trump supporters proposed the introduction of a new $250 or $500 note only for him, critics labeled the idea as unserious. One X user proposed “instead of giving Trump his own bill, Congress should abolish the Federal Reserve and IRS.”.

The legislation requires that the Treasury Secretary release a proposed design of the new $100 bill with Trump’s portrait by December 31, 2026, and official circulation after December 31, 2028. While the precise image is unclear, Gill noted that no president has done more to bring about America’s “golden age” than Trump.

Nonetheless, federal legislation now forbids the representation of any living individual on US currency, so the bill’s passage is extremely doubtful. Previously, South Carolina Representative Joe Wilson introduced a similar bill to put Trump on a $250 bill based on his economic record.

The plan, despite broad support from Trump supporters, has legal and political hurdles, with opponents questioning its viability and necessity.
