Donald Trump confirmed on Monday that his oldest son, Don Jr. , intends to travel to Greenland, following the U. S. president-elect’s proposal to annex the self-governing Danish territory.

In a message on his Truth Social platform, Trump announced, “My son, Don Jr. , and several representatives, will be visiting there to explore some of the most stunning areas and attractions. ” He did not specify when the visit would take place.

Trump continued, “Greenland is an extraordinary place, and the residents will gain immensely if, and when, it becomes a part of our Nation. We will safeguard it and value it, from a very hostile outside World. MAKE GREENLAND GREAT AGAIN! ”

The Danish foreign ministry recognized the upcoming visit but emphasized, “As it is not an official American visit, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Denmark has no additional comments. ”

Shortly before Christmas, Trump reiterated his conviction that “for purposes of National Security and Freedom across the Globe, the United States of America believes that the acquisition and control of Greenland is an absolute necessity. ”

The island’s administration has persistently responded that Greenland is not for sale, as it did when President Trump expressed similar views in 2019.

Details regarding Don Jr. ‘s visit remain confidential, and a Greenland diplomat, Mininnguaq Kleist, informed Danish public television DR that it seems to be a personal trip, with no meetings scheduled with Greenland officials.

Greenland Prime Minister Mute Egede was supposed to meet King Frederik X in Copenhagen on Wednesday, but the meeting got postponed for scheduling reasons, according to local media.
