Divorce Rumors? The Real Reason Michelle Obama Is Skipping Trump’s Inauguration

Speculation about the marriage of Barack and Michelle Obama has gained momentum after news broke that Michelle Obama will not be attending U.S. President-elect Donald Trump’s inauguration on January 20. Social media users have fueled the rumors, one of whom points to old letters from Barack Obama in 1982 where he wrote about thinking about intimacy with men. Another defended Michelle, speculating that her absence might be related to mourning her mother, Marian Robinson, who died last May.

This is the second major event Michelle has missed in a month. Former President Barack Obama went to former U.S. More fuel for the fire: only President Jimmy Carter’s funeral.

Photos and videos of the ceremony, including this one of Barack interacting with Donald Trump, quickly circulated online.

The Obamas’ office released a statement verifying that “former president Barack Obama is confirmed to attend the 60th Inaugural Ceremonies.” Former First Lady Michelle Obama will not attend the upcoming inauguration.”

A report by the New York Post stated that Michelle’s absence might be deliberate. According to a source close to the Obamas, “She’s never been fake and she’s never been phony. She’s always been very deliberate about where and how she shows up.” They added, “She showed up reluctantly for the election. They were united, but she doesn’t have to unify around [Trump]. She doesn’t have to say anything. Her absence speaks volumes.”

Barack and Michelle Obama, married since 1992, have been counted among the most powerful and the most loving couples. This has been reported since Michelle is foregoing the inauguration, and this has set off a larger conversation regarding their personal choices and hidden messages behind their public appearances.
