“Daddy Would’ve Been Mortified”: Muhammad Ali’s Family Slams Jake Paul After Mike Tyson Showdown

Muhammad Ali’s daughter and grandson have spoken out following the recent ring battle between Jake Paul and Mike Tyson. Over 100 million people worldwide tuned in to Netflix for the highly anticipated fight, with 27-year-old Jake Paul emerging victorious against Tyson, who is 31 years his senior.

Now, the family of boxing’s greatest champion is among many who are criticizing Paul for the bout.

Fans gathered at AT&T Stadium from across the globe, hoping to see Tyson defy time and deliver a memorable performance.

Muhammad Ali, regarded as one of the greatest heavyweight boxers of all time, was a strong supporter of Tyson. According to his daughter, Rasheda Ali Walsh, her father would have been appalled by both the competition and the outcome of the fight.

Reflecting on her father’s era, she noted that boxers “didn’t really make that much” back then.

“They were fighting for their lives, and I think as my dad started to make boxing more entertaining, that’s when people came on board and how boxers started to, after my dad, make a lot of money,” she explained.

Throughout his illustrious career, Muhammad Ali, who briefly lived in Cherry Hill in the early 1970s, earned over $57 million. In comparison, the gate sales from the Jake Paul vs. Mike Tyson fight generated over $17 million. Reports indicate that Jake Paul earned more than $40 million, while Mike Tyson took home nearly $20 million.

“Jake Paul is an embarrassment”

Taking to X, Nico Ali Walsh, a rising boxer and grandson of Muhammad Ali, criticized Jake Paul.

Ali’s grandson also condemned the fight, stating that his grandfather would have shared the same sentiment.

“Jake Paul is an embarrassment to this sport,” Nico Ali Walsh wrote on X. “If my grandfather was still around, he’d call him out. Absolutely no shame…Love you Mike.”
