The Baloch Yakjehti Committee (BYC) has raised alarm over the case of Dil Jan Baloch, a resident of Tirtej, Awaran, who has been missing since June 12, 2024. According to BYC, Dil Jan was abducted by security forces, and despite assurances from local authorities, there has been no progress in locating him.
Dil Jan’s family has relentlessly pursued justice, meeting with the Deputy Commissioner and Police Authorities. Initially promised that he would return within 10 days, the family has since faced silence from officials. Turning to peaceful protests, they’ve encountered harassment and threats from law enforcement agencies.
“The LEAs harassed, intimidated, and threatened them to give up their protest,” BYC shared in a statement on X.
Undeterred, the family has announced a mass protest on November 18 in Awaran, urging the people of Balochistan to stand with them. The BYC has called for solidarity and broader participation to demand justice for Dil Jan.
The BYC has also appealed to the international community and human rights organizations to intervene in the ongoing issue of enforced disappearances in Balochistan.
“We call on the global community to address these grave violations and support the victims and their families in their quest for justice,” the BYC stated.
Enforced disappearances have long plagued Balochistan, with accusations leveled at Pakistan’s military and intelligence agencies for using such tactics to suppress dissent. Activists, intellectuals, and ordinary citizens often face abductions, fueling tensions between the Baloch nationalist movement and the central government.
