Over half of Americans feel that the administration under Donald Trump is concealing information about accused sex-trafficker Jeffrey Epstein, a new survey has established.

The Reuters/Ipsos two-day poll indicates that 69% of the participants felt that the federal government was concealing information on Epstein's clients. 6 percent did not agree that the Trump administration was unwilling to share the list of clients, and a quarter stated that they were undecided.

Trump's Previous Promise to Disclose Epstein Files Resurfaces

The case is in the limelight, as United States President Trump had, while campaigning for his election, vowed to release more details on convicted sex offender Epstein.

The Trump administration did an about-turn on the promise last week when the Justice Department announced that Epstein had not left behind a "client list."

This was at variance with Attorney General Pam Bondi saying in February that it was on her desk. Later, though, she explained she meant the complete case file.

Public Confidence in Government’s Handling Remains Low

Just 17% of the respondents supported the manner in which the Trump administration had handled the case.

Among Republicans, almost two-thirds think the federal government is keeping secrets regarding Epstein's operation, and 35% did approve of Trump's administration of the case. 29% did not approve of the administration and the remainder was undecided.

Wealth financier Epstein was indicted for sex crimes in 2006, when the parents of a 14-year-old girl told police that the money man had fondled their daughter at their residence in Florida.

Epstein's Controversial Plea Deal and Later Arrest

He was not charged federally due to a contentious plea agreement with the prosecutors, serving slightly more than a year in jail.

But he was once again arrested in July 2019, with charges of trafficking dozens of teen girls and for having sex with them in return for payments.

Epstein’s Death in Custody Ends Legal Proceedings

Although Epstein entered no guilty pleas in the case, prosecutors within the case charged him with collaborating with co-conspirators to obtain a "steady supply of minor victims on whom to prey."

Epstein died a month later on August 10, 2019 in his prison cell, where he awaited trial.
