United States Announces Team for 2024 ICC T20 World Cup; Unmukt Chand Left Out

Corey Anderson, a former all-rounder for New Zealand, is part of the American team that will compete in the ICC T20 World Cup in 2024. The previous India U19 captain Unmukt Chand is noticeably absent from the lineup of fifteen players.

Joining the USA group with a wealth of experience is Corey Anderson, who is well-known for playing a crucial part in leading New Zealand to the finals of the 2015 ODI World Cup. The fact that he just led the USA to victory against Canada is a positive development for the squad, particularly as they prepare to face strong opponents like India and Pakistan in Group A matches.

Monank Patel continues as the team captain, supported by Aaron Jones as his deputy. The return of star paceman Ali Khan after recuperating from a hamstring injury sustained during the Canada series adds strength to the bowling lineup.

Shayan Jahangir, of Pakistani origin, rejoins the squad, while Gajanand Singh and Usman Rafiq miss out on World Cup selection. Gajanand Singh finds himself named among the reserves, alongside Juanoy Drysdale and Yasir Mohammad.

Former Indian U19 cricketer Saurabh Netravalkar secures a spot in the USA’s World Cup squad. With an impressive track record of 24 wickets in 24 T20I innings and 73 wickets in ODIs for the USA, he remains a vital asset, particularly in the bowling department.

The USA squad for the T20 World Cup comprises Monank Patel as captain, Aaron Jones as vice-captain, Andries Gous, Corey Anderson, Ali Khan, Harmeet Singh, Jessy Singh, Milind Kumar, Nisarg Patel, Nitish Kumar, Noshtush Kenjige, Saurabh Nethralvakar, Shadley Van Schalkwyk, Steven Taylor, and Shayan Jahangir.
