Elon Musk has hinted that his platform, X, may soon introduce a new email service called “Xmail,” potentially challenging Gmail. The suggestion came after a post from the X account DodgeDesigner on Sunday, calling ‘Xmail’ “cool.” Musk confirmed the idea, writing in the comment section that it was on X’s “to-do list.”
Musk’s comment adds weight to the speculation that X could be developing an email service to rival Google’s Gmail, which currently holds a 30.7% share of the global email market, behind Apple Mail’s 53.67%. Other popular services include Outlook and Yahoo! Mail, but a new offering from Musk’s platform could shake up the competition.
The idea of Xmail has generated positive reactions, especially from Musk’s supporters. One user eagerly commented, “Yes, please make this happen ASAP,” while another added, “I’m looking for a new email account.” Some even joked about the possibility of an “XPhone,” showcasing excitement for Musk’s latest venture.
