UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer has issued a warning that Europe stands at a critical point for its security, emphasizing the importance of having a united and robust response to Russian aggression. Addressing an important summit with French President Emmanuel Macron and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, Starmer reiterated the UK’s steadfast support for Ukraine.
“Everyone is with you, with Ukraine, for as long as it takes,” he said, referencing the welcome Zelenskyy had outside 10 Downing Street when he arrived.
Starmer warned that the war is not simply one of right and wrong but an important issue for the security of all the countries involved. He pointed to talks with Baltic leaders, recognizing their strategic significance in the wider security architecture.
Detailing his next move, the prime minister said he plans to develop an overall strategy for Ukraine that he will coordinate with the United States and other key allies. Monday’s talks, he added, will be devoted to securing “a just and lasting peace” while maintaining the support for Kyiv.
“Even as Russia speaks of peace, they continue their relentless attack,” he warned, calling on European countries to remain firm.
The summit will cement additional pledges to Ukraine, affirming the joint action against the crisis unfolding.
