Russia Warns Of Strong Response After Ukraine Use US ATACMS Missiles In Strike

Kremlin has confirmed that Russia will take necessary action in response to Ukraine’s recent use of US-made ATACMS missiles to strike a Russian military airfield on the Azov Sea. Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov stated on Thursday that Russia would not let the attack go unanswered, signaling a firm retaliation.

According to Russia’s defense ministry, Ukraine launched six ATACMS ballistic missiles, a significant escalation that could lead to Moscow deploying its own hypersonic weapons. The defense ministry emphasized that the use of Western long-range weapons would prompt “appropriate measures,” though details on Russia’s response remain unclear.

Peskov reiterated the defense ministry’s previous statement, making it clear that Russia’s retaliation would be “definite,” but would be carried out in a manner deemed appropriate by the government. The new threat follows a similar response from Russia on Nov. 21, when Moscow launched an intermediate-range hypersonic missile, the “Oreshnik,” at Ukrainian targets, marking a direct reaction to strikes on Russian territory.

US officials have indicated that another hypersonic missile launch could be imminent, although they do not view the “Oreshnik” as a decisive game-changer in the ongoing conflict. As tensions continue to escalate, both sides appear poised for further military confrontations.
