Over 50 Abductions Reported in Balochistan as Pakistani Forces Carry Out Widespread Raids

Pakistani forces have conducted a series of raids across Balochistan, resulting in the forced disappearance of over 50 individuals. The operations took place in Turbat, Dera Bugti, Sui, Barkhan, and Kalat, with numerous detentions reported, according to The Balochistan Post.

The most recent raid occurred on Thursday morning in Turbat, where Pakistani forces stormed a residential area and detained multiple individuals. Among those abducted are Zafar, son of Mohammad Rahim, Rahim Jan, son of Zafar, and Mohammad Kareem, son of Bahram. Additionally, five guests at Zafar’s guest house were taken, one of whom has been identified as Jabbar, with the others still unidentified.

Earlier, two individuals were abducted in Dera Bugti on Wednesday night. Dangla, son of Haji Moj Bugti, was taken from Mohammad Colony along with Pir Mohammad, son of Pano Bugti, and Ismail, son of Lalu Bugti. Pir Mohammad has been forcibly disappeared three times by Pakistani forces, having previously suffered severe torture before being released.

Reports of forced disappearances have also emerged from Barkhan and Kalat. In Barkhan, Rashid Ahmad Khetran, son of Master Gul Mohammad Jan Bughio, was abducted on November 27 while traveling from Dera Ghazi Khan. His whereabouts remain unknown. In Kalat’s Iskalku area, Syed Hussain Shah, father of the missing Syed Akhtar Shah, was allegedly taken by forces. The region has been under siege for two days, with over 40 individuals detained and local residents enduring raids, harassment, and confinement.

The ongoing abductions have raised significant concerns about the safety and well-being of Balochistan’s residents, particularly those repeatedly targeted by Pakistani forces. Due to widespread network shutdowns, further details on the detained individuals are scarce. The Baloch Yakjehti Committee has called for human rights organizations to intervene and demand the release of the forcibly disappeared.

As these abductions continue, the Voice for Baloch Missing Persons (VBMP), a human rights organization advocating for the release of missing Baloch individuals, marked the 5,650th day of protest on Thursday in Quetta. Rashid Hussain Baloch’s elderly mother visited the protest camp to show solidarity with the families of missing persons, emphasizing the failure of institutions to deliver justice and calling for the safe release of her son. She appealed to human rights groups to raise their voices for the safe return of the missing.
