Matt Gaetz Owns Past “Womanizing, Drinking, Smoking” Denying Legal Violations

Former congressman Matt Gaetz has responded to reports that the House Ethics Committee may soon release findings from its investigation into allegations of sexual misconduct and drug use against him. Gaetz, who has repeatedly denied wrongdoing, acknowledged past behavior but maintained he broke no laws.

In a statement shared on X, Gaetz said:

“The Biden/Garland DOJ spent years investigating allegations against me and found nothing. I was fully exonerated, without even a campaign finance violation, despite the investigators’ clear dislike for me.”

Critically, Gaetz criticized the whole Ethics Committee process, said that it relied on ‘credible witnesses’ according to Department of Justice, and the accusers were never really brought before him. As he denied ever having sex with anyone under 18 years of age, “It’s just baseless”, and such claims he believed would not stand the case before an independent court.

Reflecting on his past, Gaetz admitted a lifestyle of “womanizing, drinking, and smoking” in his single days, saying that “It’s embarrassing, though not criminal, that I probably partied more than I should have in my 30s. I live a different life now.”

The former congressman added that he often sent money to women he dated or helped financially, but maintained that no laws were broken.

In a scathing commentary, Gaetz wrapped up by criticizing lawmakers supporting continuing resolutions (CRs) which fund the government and claimed they were damaging to the country.

The findings by the Ethics Committee which Gaetz claims he was not given a chance to contest are due for public release. Gaetz has so far denied all the allegations against him and remains unchanged for any crimes.
