British Prime Minister Keir Starmer disclosed that former US President Donald Trump gifted him two signed baseball caps following their meeting in September 2024. The gifts are listed on a transparency declaration from Starmer’s office, following public rules demanding of ministers to report any gift valued above £140 ($175).

Starmer met Donald Trump, at the time when he was visiting New York on the United Nations General Assembly when he met this man. There, on the 26 September, he handed him caps of which he carried with the declared gifts. Still, the declaration offered no significant detail but informed that the caps were “held by department, so not one that he would have bought to his own.”.

In addition to the caps, Starmer’s statement contained many other presents including Taylor Swift memorabilia, which he received from Universal Music in August 2024. The latter was in the wake of Swift’s concert series in London. However, Starmer attracted controversy last year after he refunded thousands of pounds for gifts including six tickets for a Swift concert.

Other notable items on Starmer’s list were Team GB Olympic sportswear, a watch, a baseball, a book, and sunglasses from President Joe Biden, whisky glasses from carmaker Nissan, and a silver dagger from the Sultan of Oman.

Starmer’s office has confirmed that he was in full compliance with all transparency rules regarding the gifts. Ministers have the right to either buy the gifts or leave them in their office, and Starmer bought the Swift merchandise while the caps remain in the care of the department.
