Cultural Performances: A Blend of Tradition and Art

The highlight of the evening was an enthralling Kathak dance recital by an eight-member troupe from India, led by Shikha Sharma. Supported by the Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR), the performance was themed around Buddhism, beautifully merging spirituality with classical dance.

Complementing this was a traditional Nepali dance performance by Swojan Raghubanshi and his group, showcasing Nepal’s cultural richness.

Academic Seminar on Buddhist Heritage

A seminar titled “Buddhist Cultural Heritage of India and Nepal” was held at Lumbini Buddhist University, featuring eminent scholars from both nations. Discussions emphasized the historical and cultural significance of Buddhism, fostering deeper understanding and collaboration in preserving this shared heritage.

Engaging the Youth Through Art

Shikha Sharma’s Kathak troupe interacted with students at Shree Ram Naresh Yadav Adarsh Model Secondary School in Butwal. The session introduced students to the nuances of Kathak, inspiring a greater appreciation for Indian classical art forms.

The school building, a High Impact Community Development Project (HICDP), was constructed with financial assistance from the Government of India, symbolizing India’s commitment to fostering education and cultural ties.

Extending the Celebration Across Nepal

The Indian Kathak troupe will extend their performances to Kathmandu and Pokhara, further promoting the shared cultural heritage between India and Nepal.

Strengthening India-Nepal Bonds

The India-Nepal Cultural Festival highlights the enduring ties between the two nations. By celebrating their Buddhist legacy, the festival underscores the importance of cultural exchange and collaboration, strengthening the unique relationship between India and Nepal.
