Football Match Ends in Violent Clash Among Rival Fans, Killing 100 | WATCH

Violent clashes erupted between rival football fans following a match in N’Zerekore, Guinea’s second-largest city, on Sunday. Reports suggest that around 100 people have died as a result of the violence. A video circulating on social media shows the intense confrontations between the fans.

According to an AFP report, one doctor in the city described the scenes as “massive violence” and noted that “bodies [were] lined up as far as the eye can see in the hospital,” with others found lying in the hallways. The morgue was reported to be at full capacity.

Another doctor mentioned that the death toll was in the “dozens.” Local media indicated that the match was part of a tournament organized in honor of Guinea’s junta leader, Mamadi Doumbouya, who took power following a coup in September 2021 and declared himself president.

N’Zerekore, located 570 kilometers (350 miles) from the capital Conakry, has a population of about 200,000 people.
